Munich, December 4, 2018
ProGlove, innovation leader for IIoT wearables, today announced the appointment of Andreas Koenig as new CEO. He succeeds ProGlove co-founder Thomas Kirchner, who will focus on the product development as new Vice President Product. Andreas Koenig headed the German unicorn TeamViewer until the beginning of this year. He joins ProGlove at a crucial time as the Munich-based company taps into exponential growth as an internationally sought-after technology supplier.
ProGlove’s smart industrial wearables have been quickly deployed by numerous global players across many industries. The company’s customers include several blue-chip companies such as BMW, Audi, KUKA, IKEA and Rewe Group. Equipped with mobile scanners, ProGlove wearables are supercharging the interaction between Industry 4.0 and human workers. Use cases for smart gloves include production processes and the packaging of goods.
“We are delighted that Andreas will be our new CEO”, said former CEO and co-founder Thomas Kirchner. “Andreas has been an adviser to us for several months with his experience in scaling organizations. He also brings along a sound software and hardware background. This is exactly the set of skills we need to expand our success.”
“I firmly believe that it is possible to build unicorns in Germany. I see this potential at ProGlove which is why this responsibility appeals to me beyond compare”, said Andreas König, the new CEO of ProGlove.” In the age of Industry 4.0, ProGlove’s products provide the workforce with the digital tools they need to do their jobs smarter. In that sense, they represent a feasible perspective to address the challenges that come with issues such as digitization, automation, and artificial intelligence.”
Andreas Koenig looks back on more than 20 years of management experience. Most recently, he was CEO at the Swabian tech unicorn TeamViewer, where he drove viral growth to 1.5 billion installations and 400 million users. Previously, as CEO at Swisscom IT Services, Mr. Koenig integrated two business units with more than 4,500 employees. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President and General Manager EMEA at NetApp. Under his leadership, the storage specialist accomplished an exceptional expansion into the European market with sales increasing from 0 to 2 billion Euros.
This management change was initiated by Thomas Kirchner. Mr. Kirchner wants to solely focus on product development because it is an “affair of the heart” to him. For this reason, he decided to hand over the CEO responsibilities to Andreas Koenig.
